Iris Reyes, born in Caracas, Venezuela, received her education at the Ballet School Bellas Artes
in her birthplace. She worked as a classical dancer with the National Ballet of Caracas under the direction of Vicente Nebrada, from 1983 to 1990.
In 1990 she moved to Amsterdam, where she worked as a free-lance dancer and performed with choreographers such as Ted Brandsen, Conny Janssen, Nanine Linning and others.
Bound to Conny Janssen Danst company from 1993 to 2005, Iris Reyes became one of the leading dancers of the ensemble in 1998. She was awarded the "Best dancer of 2001" with the VSCD Silver Dance Prize. After her studies at the Limón Dance Institute in New York 1997, she worked
as a ballet teacher, modern dance teacher and also as a rehearsal director and coach alongside her dance career in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague, Switzerland, Russia. From 2006 to 2018, Iris Reyes worked as a ballet master and rehearsal teacher at Introdans in Arnhem, The Netherlands.
In addition to assisting choreographers Hans van Manen, Jiry Kylían, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Paul Lightfoot & Sol León, Nacho Duato, Mats Ek, Alexander Ekman and others, she is also a choreographer and her other passion besides dance- yoga is painting (abstract).
Currently, Iris Reyes works as an independent assistant choreographer, rehearsal director,
Critical Alignment Yoga & Therapy teacher and she is working on the Spanish translation of
Gert van Leeuwen's book 'Critical Alignment Yoga'.
